How to preserve your wedding bouquet

First, why would you want to preserve your wedding bouquet?

Flowers are a conduit to memory. They bring us back to specific, fleeting moments in time.

Your wedding flowers, for example, are a specific collection of blooms chosen to honor you and your love. Seeing your bouquet brings you back to that day — to the feelings, the places, the people who celebrated with you.

It’s also likely that you spent a lot of time and energy thinking about what you wanted your bouquet to look like. (Or maybe you didn’t...but I know your florist did!)

Preserving your bouquet is a beautiful way to keep your wedding flowers with you in your home for years to come, and there are so many ways to do this! Here are a few ideas:

  1. Hang your bouquet to dry and keep it as an everlasting arrangement

  2. Press the flowers and frame them

  3. Capture it in resin to make a custom ring holder, coasters, or candle holder

  4. Preserve it in a custom bouquet illustration

Of course I’m biased, but I love the last option! Here are a few reasons why I love preserving wedding bouquets in this way:

A custom bouquet illustration allows you to preserve your ephemeral wedding flowers at their most beautiful.

It allows you to capture the essence of your wedding flowers before they've wilted from the excitement of the day, lost their natural color, or become faded, forgotten bundles.

From a feng shui perspective, dried flowers aren’t recommended.

Unlike fresh flowers, they don’t add vibrant life energy to your home. However, if you truly love dried flowers, go for it! I’m certainly not here to tell you how you should decorate your space. Bouquet preservation, like anything in life, does not benefit from a one-size-fits-all approach, and there are many talented artists who work wonders with dried flowers.

Preserving your flowers without the actual flowers themselves can also make life simpler.

It allows you to enjoy your wedding celebration without having to worry about whether your bouquet will still be fresh after hours of dancing, or after you toss it to a crowd of friends and family and your eccentric grandpa enthusiastically catches it.

Custom artwork makes a great gift for an anniversary or another special occasion.

Even if your friend’s bouquet is already long gone, you can turn it into a meaningful gift after the fact with just a few photos. And your friend gets to relive their memories when they receive it!

A custom bouquet illustration also gives you a beautiful, timeless piece of art to hang on your walls.

It’s a beautiful decor item with personal significance that can help you transform a corner of your home into a meaningful, cozy nook filled with love.
